Life update...

I'm sorry for not posting anything in so long. At at the beginning of the month, my husband went for a short bicycle ride around the neighborhood one evening and ended up in the hospital after falling off his bike. He hit his head, was knocked unconscious and woke up in the hospital. I was getting very worried when he wasn't back after dark and later got a call from the hospital to let me know that he was there. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, a broken hip, a laceration on his forehead as well as other more minor injuries. Thankfully a man saw him fall and called an ambulance.

After spending two weeks in the hospital, my husband finally came home last weekend. He will be alright but now we're facing weeks of in-home therapy for him and he has to avoid putting weight on his bad leg for the next month or so. So, I won't have time for drawing and other hobbies for a while. The few drawings that I posted earlier this month had already been scanned and were ready to blog about before my husband's accident.

  3. Thanks for your great inspiration through all of the tiles that you post. I hope your husband recovers quickly, and that you get the rest that you also need.

  4. Wow!...and I assumed you had another computer crash. In cases like this I tell myself "think positive!" --> your husband IS on the mend and may his recovery be speedy. Your beautiful and inspirational drawings will be missed. My best wishes to both of you.

    1. Thank you, Susie. So far I have had no problems with my new computer. There won't be any therapists coming to the house tomorrow so I might try to squeeze in some drawing time after my housework is done. Today my husband had an occupational therapist here in the morning and the physical therapist was here in the afternoon so it was quite a busy day.

    2. Glad to hear you are kept busy...albeit not in the way you would have preferred. Eh...Monday I got new laptop....Huge mess in my brain on how to make things work as they were before. No wonder I delayed it for 3 years. Best wishes.

    3. I put off getting a new computer for much longer than three years. I'm so thankful that setting up my new computer wasn't as painful as I thought it might be.

    5. I'm so glad that I was able to get a Win10 computer shortly before Win11 came out. My husband needs to get a new computer soon and he will have to get one with Win11 when the time comes. He mostly uses his computer to surf the internet so it shouldn't be as bad for him as it would have been for me.

  6. Yup, surfing OK. I have an issue with File Exploerer Search. Too Slow and new saved files don't show up. Need to rebuild index every couple of days because I am loosing indexing for D-drive, where all my files are stored. Today, while rebuilding AGAIN (incl Documents folder on D) I found a batch file that should do the trick. Yet to be tested. I wold have stayed with win10, too, but support expires Oct 2025. Not that I care much, but hey, my next new win # will probably be somewhere in the 30ties IF that.

    1. I rarely use the Search feature in Windows so that isn't an issue for me. I have three hard drives with C for my programs, D for my backups and E is my main data drive.

    2. Oh lucky you AGAIN! You must have very few files. I cannot live without the Explorer Search field. It even shows me Keyword results inside written documents (word, pdf, excel) not just file names. My backup is on an external drive...just in case. As for my problem - I think I am getting closer to finding out where the problem lies...

    3. I have plenty of files, mostly graphics and photos, but I have them pretty well organized. Having said that, I do sometimes struggle to find documents that I created many years ago but I'm not sure if Search would help me find them if I don't know what they're called. I have used Search occasionally but I don't remember if I've done a search on this Win10 computer yet.

    4. Linda, try the explorer search, not windows search. In 10 I got results from words that were inside the documents. e.g.: I have an excel file where I list all patterns I every drew. When I search e.g.: for mooka, that excel file is listed in the explorer search result window as well. Window search is more for OS applications like Taks Manager, Control Panel, Sound Setting, Display...you get my drift. If you should have known that...I wasn't sure what you meant with your prev "...Search feature in Windows....". Explorer sorts files wonderfully - any way you want, but as soon as you have a file name such as Mooka, Printemps, Fescu, jpg you would find this file only among the M files when sorted abc. With a search for 'Mooka' it pops up as well. But something tells me, you already know all this. We may well be talking past each other. LOL

    5. I guess I'm not understanding the difference between a Windows search and an Explorer search. In Win10, how do you access Explorer search? I only see the Search icon on the task bar. There are so many more options for searching in Win10 than I remember there being in WinXP or at least it appears more complicated. It used to be pretty simple in XP. In Win10, I'm not sure if I'm searching my computer or the entire internet as well.

    6. This is easy INDEED! Open the Documents folder (or any folder where you store your files). Top right hand corner, under the ribbon, there is the search field. Or just after the Folder Path field. Every folder has that. You may also copy this link which explains the Explorer search with images. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/94452-search-file-explorer-windows-10-a.html
I, too, remember XP, but my fav was Vista for a long time albeit everybody complaining about it being too bloated. If I recall correctly I started with windows 3.2, had them all since but never ME.
Let me know how you are doing with the search.
