Video Tutorial - Nidhi Prakash Mandala 8

I followed another video tutorial by Nidhi Prakash the other day and this tile is the result. I added a hint of color as well as some metallic gold accents and shading. I used a 6-inch tile as shown in the video. You can watch Nidhi's video HERE.

Today's Tangle - Melting Mooka

"Melting Mooka" is a "Mooka" tangleation by Julie Willand and she showed how to draw it in THIS Day 5 video from Zentangle Project Pack 6. As far as I know, there hasn't been an official step-out published. I blogged about my Day 5 project HERE. I have to admit that "Melting Mooka" gave me some trouble when I've tried drawing it before but I'm happy with the way that today's tile turned out despite a couple of oopsies.

"Scuttle" is by Sarah Harrison and her step-out is found HERE at TanglePatterns. Today's tile features the original angular version on a zigzag line. I colored this with metallic colored pencils and drew an aura around everything with a silver glitter pen.

This is the first video by Nidhi Prakash that I have tried and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The video was recorded live so every step is shown and her instructions are easy to follow. You can watch her video HERE on YouTube. I suggest watching at least most of the video before following along so that you will know what to expect. Nidhi makes an oopsie at one point and you may want to avoid making the same mistake. I knew that it was coming so I omitted that step on my tile. Having said that, I liked some of the ways that she worked around the issue and used them on my tile.

This project is drawn on a 6x6-inch square tile which is much larger than I usually work with. Tomorrow I will blog about a scaled down version of the design on a 3.5x3.5" tile.

She demonstrates how to draw "Meringue" in a circle but I don't know where the original idea for this came from. Ellen mentions in the video that someone had seen an example of this design on Pinterest but the artist is unknown.

Today's Tangle - Blue with Roku (video tutorial)

"Blue with Roku" is from a YouTube tutorial by Shie Naritomi. There is no blue on my tile but that is the name of the video which you can watch HERE. Shie drew hers on a hexagon tile but I used an octagon tile which I cut from card stock. I went to her website and I see that she sells her own round and hexagon tiles as well as lots of Zentangle and other art products. Click HERE to see what she has for sale. Note that she lives in Japan.

"4 Corner Corolla" is by Susie Ngamsuwan and her step-out is posted HERE on her blog. The basic design is the petals which I filled with a variety of tangles.
