Zentangle® Project Pack No. 10: Zentangle Legend - Day 8

Day 8's video features fragments and is presented by Rick and Maria. I used a few of the ones that Rick draws in the video, several from the Zentangle fragment list as well as some that I either made up or took from other non-Zentangle patterns. I only drew five of the round fragments because I couldn't think of ten that I thought I might actually use. I can't think of many ways to use round fragments except perhaps as the center of a mandala or something similar to that.

Rather than link to each of the official Zentangle fragments individually, you can find all of them HERE at Musterquelle

You may have noticed, if you printed out the "Legend to my Legend" PDF file, that there aren't enough spaces to add the names of all of the fragments on spread L7. I used the 20 spaces on the Legend to record the square fragments then printed out an extra page to record the others.

Click HERE to download the extra page that I created to add the names for the triangle and circle fragments.

Zentangle® Project Pack No. 10: Zentangle Legend - Day 7

Day 7's video features that are similar to each other or that evolved from other tangles. This video is presented by Martha and Molly. They draw Huggins, Well, Pokeroot, Pokeleaf, Diva Dance and Flux.

I did use Diva Dance on mine but none of the others shown in the video. I chose a selection of tangles that had more appeal for me and tried to chose pairs of tangles that have similarities.

I thought I would mention something that I've found to be very helpful throughout this project pack series. Before I started drawing in my Zentangle Legend booklet, I took the time to scan each blank page and saved them on my computer. Each day, I printed out a copy of that day's page and used it to play around and experiment with the tangles before tangling directly in the book.

Zentangle® Project Pack No. 10: Zentangle Legend - Day 6

Day 6's video features tangles as borders and is presented by Maria on spread L4 of the Zentangle Legend booklet. I decided not to draw most of the ones that Maria drew because I didn't think that I would want to use them in the future. The exceptions are Fragment F2 and Hibred, which Maria calls "Hurry" in the video. I like Maria's Mooka tangleation but I ended up coming up with my own version.

Day 4's video features texture and drama and is presented by Molly. She draws Cubine, Jetties, Jonqal, Keeko, Munchin, Scena, Shattuck, Stiritup (aka Amaze) and Umble. If you look very closely, you will see that I drew Stiritup in one continuous line. I started in the bottom left corner and the line ends somewhere near the top on the right.

Zentangle® Project Pack No. 10: Zentangle Legend - Day 2

The Day 2 video features spiral tangles and tangles drawn in a spiral fashion. This video is presented by Martha and she draws "Icanthis", "Zander", a variation of "Mooka" and a fun version of "Floo" that she calls "Floo-ish". I particularly enjoyed drawing the spiraled "Mooka" and "Floo-ish". I usually shy away from drawing "Icanthis" but I think it has finally clicked for me thanks to Martha's instructions.

Section 17 shows "Icanthis" and section 3 shows "Mooka" spiraled.

Section 2 shows "Floo-ish" and section 15 shows "Zander".

Zentangle® Project Pack No. 10: Zentangle Legend - Day 1

On Day 1, Rick and Maria showed us how to draw the twenty original tangles (Legend 5) from back in 2004 when they first started Zentangle. Official step-outs for only five of these tangles have been released to the public and you'll find links to them below. While I have seen lots of examples of these tangles online, it was nice to finally see how they were originally intended to look.

You can watch the Zentangle Project Pack No. 10 - Introduction video HERE and the Zentangle Project Pack No. 10 - Day 1 video HERE. Be sure to read the info below the videos because there is a link to a PDF file which you can download and print out. Today's Tangle - Aini

"Aini" is by Rahath Farzana and I found her step-out HERE in the Zentangle Facebook group.

ZENTANGLE® PROJECT PACK 10

Another Zentangle Project Pack series begins today. What's extra special and exciting about this project pack is that this time I will be working with an actual project pack! I won a Zentangle Project Pack 10 kit in one of the Friday drawings in the Anything Goes - Tangled Art For Everyone Facebook group. I participated in all nine of the previous Project Pack series by using materials that I already had on hand so I'm really looking forward to using the same supplies that the Zentangle folks will be using in the videos.

I don't have a link to the first video yet but you can watch the series HERE on the Zentangle YouTube channel. To receive notices of this and future project packs, subscribe to the Zentangle Newsletter HERE and you can buy Project Pack 10 HERE.

UPDATE: I just finished watching today's videos. You can watch the Zentangle Project Pack No. 10 - Introduction video HERE and the Zentangle Project Pack No. 10 - Day 1  HERE. Be sure to read the info below the videos because there is a link to a PDF file which you can download and print out. Today's Tangle - Threddit

"Threddit" is another pattern by Mandy Needham. You'll find it HERE at Pattern-Collections. I love how the shading makes the design look like it is woven paper and ribbons. I went a little crazy with embellishments on today's tile. Tomorrow I will post one that's not as ornate.
