Video Tutorial - Nidhi Prakash Mandala 36

Once again, Nidhi Prakash has come up with another enjoyable and beautiful mandala tutorial. You can watch her video HERE. This is a 6x6 inch tile. I drew the design with a black Micron 01 pen then added some blue colored pencil as well as some metallic gold Gelly Roll accents. I made a few subtle tweaks to the design here and there such as an aura around the entire design and the tiny green leaves next to the spiral flowers on the border.

Today's Tangle - Ferne

"Ferne" is by Cyndi Knapp and you'll find her step-out HERE at TanglePatterns. I drew this with a white Gelly Roll pen on a dark grayish blue tile. I added some accent dots that aren't on the step-out.

Below is another file featuring "Ferne" but this time I drew it in black ink instead of white. I also colored it with colored pencils and added some shading.

Today's Tangle - Kyta

"Kyta" is by Lucy Farran CZT and her pattern is posted HERE at TanglePatterns. My tile was inspired by one of the example tiles on her step-out.

Zentangle® Project Pack 15 - Day 8

This will be my last post about Project Pack 15. I've decided to move on to drawing other things. Today's project was a lot of fun to draw and it features the letter "A".

Watch the Day 8 video HERE. I used my own materials but you can buy the Project Pack 15 kit HERE on the Zentangle site.

As I mentioned in my other post,  I drew some of my borders as shown in the videos and others I either tweaked or came up with my own ideas.

Today's Tangle - Empire

While watching a YouTube video on a home restoration channel called The Second Empire Strikes Back, I saw this interesting border on an old photo. It was pretty easy to deconstruct and there are only three steps to drawing it. Click HERE to watch the video. The photo is featured at 3:35 and below is a screenshot from the video.

I really like the look of the original "S"shapes but I rounded them on the step-out to make them easier to draw.

UPDATE

I have been a bit scarce for a while and I apologize for that. This is due to my 14 year old Windows XP computer suddenly dying a couple weeks ago on August 26. I thought I had better post an update on my situation so that nobody would worry that I had caught Covid-19 or something. My husband and I are both well. We are staying safe and taking every precaution to avoid the virus. He had a liver transplant in 2010 and he is on immunosuppressants. He has had three shots of the Pfizer vaccine but there is no telling how well he is protected so we are being extra careful. While I was shopping for a new Windows 10 computer, I was able to use my husband's computer for email but not much else. I didn't feel much like drawing during this time and I would have been unable to scan and edit my tiles anyway.

As you can imagine, it was pretty traumatic for me to lose my computer after so many years. I knew for a long time that the day would come when I would have to get a new computer but I was dreading it. You see, I've been using some very old software programs to edit my photos and artwork and I was worried that those programs would be much too old to run on Windows 10 and I can't afford to buy new software. I don't even know of replacements for some of them.

My old computer had three hard drives in it and two of them died. The ones that died were the primary drive and the secondary drive which stored most of my data. Thankfully the hard drive that did survive was my backups drive so I really didn't end up losing much. I have been religious about backing up my data weekly and even daily and now I am so glad that I did that.

I got my brand new Windows 10 computer on September 3. The good news is that I was able to install most of my old programs! Some of them work just as they should and some have minor glitches but are still mostly usable. Now that I have my new computer mostly set up the way I want it, I should have more time for tangling.
