I actually drew this one quite some time ago but had to wait to blog about it until after the recipient's birthday. I didn't want her to see it posted on Facebook or on my blog before her birthday. The tile above was on the front of the birthday card. Here is the picture that I put on the back of the card:
The floral tangle down the middle is my "Buddeena" pattern. The step-out is HERE at Pattern-Collections.com.

The pattern in the lower right is "Miss 1969" by Ellen Wolters. Her step-out is HERE at Pattern-Collections.com. Ellen has a YouTube video for the pattern HERE and Dawn Collins has one HERE.

I found the step-out for Alexandria Diaz's "LeafPod" on a forum that I belong to. If you join the Line Weaving forum, the pattern is posted HERE. She also has a YouTube video HERE if you would like to learn how to draw it. I hadn't watched the video before drawing my example so I didn't know that she used a circle template. I had a little trouble guessing how far to curve the pods to accommodate the Flux-like petals that are added later so I ended up having to tweak mine a bit to fill some gaps.
I was a little nervous about drawing "Ilac" because I don't usually do well with freehand tangles that don't have a grid or some kind of guidelines. I did a few practice runs on scrap paper and then went very slowly and carefully on my final tile. I'm glad that I was successful because it's very pretty. "Apple Blossom" is by Shirley Wohlsen and I found her step-out HERE on a Line Weaving forum that I belong to. I think you have to be a member to view the patterns there. If you'd like to join the forum, click HERE.
"Circus" is by Linda Rea and you'll find the pattern HERE on Flickr. I used some wild colors that I wouldn't normally use but it is a circus after all.

"Puzzled" is by Ellen Wolters and I found her step-out HERE on Flickr. The pattern shows a plain version but I drew some fine strips on some of my puzzle pieces. If you make the pieces large enough, you could draw all kinds of tangle inside of them. See if you can spot the puzzle piece that I drew incorrectly. Actually there is one more piece that is wrong because of my first mistake.
Prismacolor Pencil Problem
I had read that there are issues with Prismacolor pencils having a tendency to break but I hadn't experienced that myself until last night. I wanted to use 70% French Grey but the lead broke. No matter how many times I sharpened it again, either the lead broke off inside the sharpener or it broke the instant I attempted to use it. Unfortunately, they don't sell that color at Hobby Lobby or Michaels so I won't be able to replace it unless I order some art supplies from Blick. What a bummer because I've hardly used that pencil and who knows if the next one will do the same thing? Has anyone heard if that particular color is problematic? The lead in it seems very soft, almost like putty.
Well, I may have fixed it, at least temporarily. After typing my comments above, I decided to try sharpening the pencil one more time but with my old hand-crank sharpener. I figured that I had nothing to lose by trying it even though it's not recommended to use that kind of sharpener on good colored pencils. My thinking was that the pencil was useless to me as it was so I gave it a shot and it seems to have done the trick. I think it ground the pencil down far enough to get past the bad spot. It would have taken far to long to do that with my manual sharpener.
