Video Tutorial - Cindyer

I followed THIS video tutorial by The Tireless Tangler. The featured tangles are "Cindyer" by YuRu Chen as well as "Crescent Moon" and "Tipple" by Zentangle. I blogged about "Cindyer" HERE.

This time I used a standard size square tile and left off the "Fescu" border.

Today's tile was inspired by a video by Henriëtte Robben. You can watch her video HERE on YouTube. I don't have some of the supplies that she uses so I used what I have. I colored mine with metallic colored pencils and metallic gold ink.

Video Tutorial - Nidhi Prakash Mandala 15

This is from another wonderful tutorial by Nidhi Prakash. You can watch her May 8, 2021 video HERE. I tweaked some things and I also used some of the features of her thumbnail image which is slightly different than what she does in the video.

I added some metallic copper accents and added a vignette shadow around the outside edge of the mandala with a colored chalk pencil.

Nidhi's design features the official Zentangle tangles "Betweed", "Fescu", "Flukes" and "Moon Pie".

Today's Tangle - Snugz

"Snugz" is by Terri Brown CZT and her step-out is posted HERE at TanglePatterns. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to follow her instructions. Just make sure that the amount of space between your orbs is the same width that you want your twisty auras to be.

UPDATE: Some of you may have noticed that this looks a lot like Sandy Steen Bartholomew's "Annee" pattern. I did a little research and "Annee" was posted on Sandy's blog in the same year that "Snugz" was posted at TanglePatterns. The interesting thing is that Snugz was posted before Annee. Snugs was published in March 2013 and Annee was published in July 2013. You can see Sandy's "Annee" pattern HERE.

Today's Tangle - Mika

"Mika" is by Sarah Harrison and you will find the pattern HERE at TanglePatterns. The step-out doesn't really give any hints as to how to draw and position the shapes and I couldn't come up with an intuitive way to draw her design. So, instead, I divided the ribbon into squares with a pencil to make a grid. I then drew sort of "fish" shapes that cross at their tails inside each square reversing the direction in every other square. Mine don't look as softly curvy as Sarah's but it was much easier to get consistent results.

Today's Tangle - LTBetweed

"LTBetweed" is by Curtis Hwang CZT and his step-out is posted HERE at TanglePatterns. I knew that this was the same design as at least two other tangle patterns but I thought perhaps his method was a little different. It turns out that all three patterns are drawn pretty much the same way except that Curtis uses a dot grid instead of a box grid. The two other patterns that I am aware of are "Jute", which I blogged about HERE and "Travertine" by Sandra Strait. I blogged about "Travertine" HERE.
