Today's Tangle - Kimmie

I first blogged about my tangleation of a pattern called "Tessie" by Kim Aarts HERE way back in 2018. You'll find the step-out for "Kimmie" in that post as well as several example tiles. Yesterday, Barbara Langston put up a video tutorial for "Kimmie" which you can watch HERE. Her video inspired me to draw another "Kimmie" tile last night.

Video Tutorial - Nidhi Prakash Mandala 103

I followed THIS "Mandala 103" video by Nidhi Prakash. I drew this on a 6x6 inch tile instead of a 9x9 inch tile so had to make some minor tweaks because all of the details are smaller. The border pattern is Nidhi's tangle called "Kinari-3" and you'll find the step-out HERE on her blog.

Once again, I followed THIS "Tile No.15 Sakura" YouTube video by Etuko.T CZT. This time I used a white tile and Staedtler Fineliners in Lilac and Delft Blue. It doesn't show up in my scan but I used a clear glitter pen in the centers of the flowers.

This is one more tile inspired by Barbara Langston's avatar on her YouTube channel. This time I drew it with blue and black ink on a white tile. I added accents of metallic gold ink.

Today's Tangle - Layered Flower Zendala

Today's tile was inspired by Barbara Langston's avatar on her YouTube channel. You can see the tiny version of it HERE. I asked her if she had done a video tutorial about that tile and she said that she had done a private class a couple of years ago. She sent me a larger photo of her tile so that I could see the details better and I've posted it below. Her project involved creating three different cut out layers that are combined with bits of cardboard between them to raise each one above the one below. I couldn't tell that by looking at her tiny avatar so I drew mine flat on a single round tile. The shading sort of gives the effect of layers.

I drew this tile for a prompt in the Today's Tangles: Keeping it Classic Facebook group. The prompt was to choose any of the tangles that have been featured in the current Zentangle Be Well video series. I chose "Hurry" from the Day 3 video and "Moon Pie" from the Day 12 video. I followed THIS "Mandala 97" video by Nidhi Prakash. This is drawn on a 6x6 inch tile. I used colored pencils and a metallic gold gel pen. I smoothed the colored pencil with odorless mineral spirits.

Today's Tangle - Puppyhugs

"Puppyhugs" is featured in the Zentangle Project Pack 23, Day 2 video which you can watch HERE. "Puppyhugs" is a combination of the tangles "Cadent" and "Huggins". I suspect that the "Puppy" part of the name comes from "Cadent" being similar to a Houndstooth pattern. "Hugs" is obviously from "Huggins". As far as I know, they haven't published a step-out for this tangle which they said is usually drawn in a grid. I might give that a try to see how it would look in that format.
