"Pinch Me" is by Erika Kehlet and her pattern is posted HERE at Pattern-Collections.com. This is fun to draw because you can keep adding more and more components to create interesting designs. It's a bit like building with Tinkertoys.

ZENTANGLE PROJECT PACK 5 - DAY 3
The picture above was inspired by the Day 3 project. I printed and cut out the vintage postcard picture in the center to make it look like a label. To make it look more like a real label, I outlined the edge and the inner border with a metallic gold Gelly Roll pen. I also added some hints of clear glitter on the woman. The tangled border was drawn with the same gold Gelly Roll pen.

ZENTANGLE PROJECT PACK 5 - DAY 4
A few years ago, I made a bunch of book plates for myself using vintage graphics that I found online. I used one of the book plates for the project above. I glued it onto the blue card stock and tangled around it.
I liked Maria's idea of drawing a border in the style of William Morris. I'm a huge fan of William Morris and have several books about his work. I also have various objects that feature his designs from Liberty of London and that sort of thing. Anyway, what Maria drew reminded me of some of the pretty border designs in William Morris' "Kelmscott Chaucer". Obviously, mine isn't nearly as elaborate but I think I sort of captured the look. By the way, the background pattern that I used behind my picture is a William Morris design.
I ended up using a lot of black in my border because I kept trying things that Maria was doing in the video and didn't like how they looked so I blacked them out. In the end, I think the black shows off the "Mooka" and "Pokeleaf" quite nicely. I debated whether or not to add shading and I'm happy that I added some.

Here is an example from the "Kelmscott Chaucer":
Here are some of the items that I have that feature beautiful William Morris designs:
The tapestry, which was a gift from a dear friend who lives in England, hangs by my computer desk.
I love how you used the Day 3 border in gold on your label piece - it looks so well balanced. I used a touch of the Fescu border in a tile today, but so far haven't really embraced any of the activities. I'm waiting to find something suitable that I want to mount and border! But I'm loving watching what others are doing!
ReplyDeleteAnd your Day 4 piece is wonderful - I haven't watched that video yet. I can't imagine what might have been in the areas that you blacked out because they look perfect the way they are.
Thank you, Jem. The main thing that I had to blacken out on my Day 4 piece was the thin border (3 orbs + 3 lines then repeat) that Maria added around the outside of hers. I'm a little disappointed with this project pack series, at least compared to previous ones. It's not quite what I was expecting but I'm trying to make the most of it. I thought we might learn how to draw the kinds of cartouches that Maria draws such as the one that they used to promote this project pack. I've always loved that kind of art. Not sure what I would do with them but I'd like to at least learn how to create them. I guess they're similar to Dingbatz but more like little frames and I particularly love Maria's style of drawing them.
DeleteI think the true power of the Project Packs accumulates over time. They introduce ideas that might not seem much at first but add skills and ideas that you can incorporate in different ways as you journey on.
DeleteYou never know, there's still videos to come - maybe you'll still get the kind of thing you're hoping for!
There are only two more projects left for today and tomorrow. It sure flew by quickly. Last night I did days 5 and 6 and I'm particularly pleased with my Day 6 project. I will scan them ASAP but I probably should shut off my computer because it's starting to storm.
