"Ibex" doesn't have an officially published step-out but I did find one HERE on Pinterest. I'm pretty sure that the step-out seen there was drawn by Maria Thomas. Melinda Barlow CZT has two videos about "Ibex" HERE and HERE but the first one isn't drawn as shown in the step-out.

Today's Tangle - Lapwing

Today's tile also features "Lapwing" but this time I used it to fill my tile instead of drawing it as a ribbon. "Lapwing" is by Lucy Farran CZT and her pattern is posted HERE at TanglePatterns.

There has been some discussion about how similar Lucy's "Lapwing" is to "Mazorito" by Ria Matheussen. I posted the image below in yesterday's blog post to illustrate the subtle difference that I see between them. If you read about Ria's pattern HERE and Lucy's pattern HERE, you will see that they were both inspired by different designs that they had seen out in the world and I'm sure that Lucy didn't intend to copy Ria's pattern. Many patterns that we call tangles have actually been around for hundreds or even thousands of years. In fact, quite a few of the official Zentangle patterns, such as "Shattuck", "Paradox" and "Huggins", are based on ancient designs.

Today's Tangle - Lapwing

"Lapwing" is by Lucy Farran CZT and her pattern is posted HERE at TanglePatterns. This pattern is almost the same as "Mazorito" by Ria Matheussen. The main difference that I can see is that "Mazorito" is drawn with curvy points and "Lapwing" has straight points.

I've gotten some comments about the lack of differences between "Lapwing" and "Mazorito". Hopefully you can see what I meant when I said that "Lapwing" is straight and "Mazorito" is curvy.

Today's Tangle - Venetian Fans

"Venetian Fans" is an adaptation of the pattern called "Venetian" by Elaine Benfatto which is posted HERE at Pattern-Collections. I was inspired by Natasha Gardner's experiments with this design which she posted in the Pattern-Collections Facebook group.

I used metallic colored pencils to color this tile and the accent dots are metallic silver gel pen. Read yesterday's post HERE for a step-out showing how I drew this pattern.
