Today's Tangle - Sand Swirl

"Sand Swirl" is by Karry Heun and her step-out is found HERE at TanglePatterns.com. I found lots of videos about this popular tangle. Mimi has one HERE. Dawn Collins has one HERE. HappyDoodleArt has a video HERE and Melinda Barlow CZT has one HERE.

  1. is this a black tile on a tan larger tile? Or the black is filled in background and the whole design is moved in from the tan tile margins? Also, what was used for the shading? Has a pastel look. Love the colors!!

    1. Thanks Allison. The tile is kraft card stock. I drew all of the Sand Swirls inside my square pencil border using the edge of the square as my starting point for the outer ones. I filled in the spaces between the Sand Swirls with black ink. I did the shading with graphite. I'm pretty sure that the lighter areas are white charcoal pencil but they might be a light beige colored pencil. I don't remember now. I do remember adding a darker shade of tan on parts of the swirls with a colored pencil a shade or two darker than the paper.
