My Facebook friend, Heidi, came up with this variation of the pattern called "Sand Swirl". Instead of drawing several auras around each stem before aura'ing the other stems, she draws one aura around each stem then adds another aura around each of them and so on. The result is a "barreled" effect where the swirls are intertwined. You can read about this technique HERE at Pattern-Collections.com. Some official Zentangle patterns that make use of this technique are "Arukas", "Auraknot", "Betweed" and "Hibred".
