Today's Tangle - Sliders

"Sliders" is by Lila Holter and her pattern is posted HERE at Pattern-Collections.com. I blogged about this pattern once before HERE but I wanted to try it again. Dawn Collins has a video HERE and Mimi has one HERE.

UPDATE: The Pattern-Collections website has shut down. Click HERE to view this pattern.

I drew the tile below first but I wasn't happy with the pink background so I drew the tile above and had some fun with the embellishments.

  1. Sliders is a fun looking one. There's something really similar, starting with dots not little squares, can't for the life of me remember it at the moment. But this looks quite a bit different and as you say the shading really emphasises the difference.

I like both your versions. I'm not a big fan of pink, but it has a lovely light floral look to it.

    1. Sliders is very similar to the tangles "Lichen" and "Warped Eggs" which I blogged about HERE and HERE. The difference is that the shapes touch in the center with Sliders.

  2. Yes, it is similar to Warped Eggs which I use quite often - just with a narrower 'waist'. As you point out, Lichen is identical to Warped Eggs.

I searched a bit this morning, and found the tangle I meant though - which is Kiasom - which has the same basic layout - starting with dots not squares and then filled however you choose.

I guess it's inevitable that all the tangles will share traits.

    1. I have Kiasom in my pattern stash. I see what you mean but the design goes on the diagonal and Sliders does not. I found a Kiasom tile that I had drawn and scanned but I have never blogged about it for some reason. I have now added it to my blog queue. I did something very different with mine and I'm not quite sure how I did it. It's different than any of the variations shown on the step-out. My lines are very straight instead of flared out and I ended up with pinwheel-shaped fragments between the main motifs. I will dig out my tile and study it more closely to see if I can figure out how I did it.

    2. I zoomed in on the Kiasom step-out and I see where the "pinwheels" are. They are just more obvious on my tile.

    3. I don't really count the tangles as that different if they are straight or diagonal seeing as I often have them different on my tile any way.

Interested to see your Kiasom variation when you get to it.
